Pickups Join time Attack at Brands Hatch
Sunday 28th June saw six Pickup Trucks and the Management Team arrive at Brands Hatch to put on a demonstration supporting Time Attack and Drifting.
To represent the Trucks were the teams of:-
Ben 10 Steve Dance
Sertec Pete Stevens
Vinnary Designs Lee Rogers
In Touch Dave Briggs
316 Engineering Stuart Annible
Truckinsure Julian Arnold
Stuart Bradburn was carrying out his duties using the official Pace Truck. Barbara and Sarah not only controlled pit lane but inherited a new role as official starters for the two race format.
In true Pickup Racing style what was supposed to be a demonstration turned into a six Truck race on two occasions with three abreast racing through Druids bend, the same applying at Graham Hill turn.
Lee Rogers inherited two drive through penalties for unnecessary contact which managed to put Julian Arnold’s two wheels in the gravel.
Overall the demo racing was entertaining. Dave Briggs demonstration of doughnuts at the end of the race in front of the Clearway fans proved the lads were eager to impress.
So what will the future bring, will we see Pickup Trucks join the Time Attack and Drifting events in 2010? There is a synergy and stranger things have happened.
