Rogers Racing Marathon Success
TRACY NEATH from ROGERS RACING successfully managed the full distance on Sundays marathon in a very impressive time of 4 hours and 33 minutes to finish 4269th out of 36000 starters!
Reaching the end of the grueling 26 mile course in hot weather was hard enough but when you also consider that TRACY had only ever run a distance of 13 miles in her training before being hindered with an injury which meant that the last piece of preparation she done was 7 weeks prior to the event!
TRACY said after the event, "I was hoping to get a time of 4 hours and 30 minutes and am I am delighted to have achieved that time. I didn't really know what to expect although my lack of preparation coming up to the day did worry me.
The atmosphere over the whole course was unbelievable with thousands of people everywhere and I even surprised myself reaching 20 miles and thinking how easy it seemed and it was great to see my boys Harry and Vinnie at 6, 13 and 22 miles which certainly gave me a massive boost. All was going well until I reached 22.5 miles when it felt like I just 'hit a wall' and I had to walk for a bit. After a couple minutes I became concerned that if I didn't start running again soon; I never would and I desperately wanted to complete the marathon running! I managed to get going again and ran the rest of the way".
The marathon run meant a lot to TRACY who would like to thank all those who sponsored her. TRACY is so appreciative of everyones kind support and is delighted to announce that together we have raised nearly £2000 for Cancer Research, a charity that means a lot to her as Tracys dad 'Malcolm' was diagnosed with bladder cancer 3 years ago and she wanted to complete the race for her dad.
