Aaron Thompson made it two wins from two races at Thruxton in the Pickup Truck Racing Championship as he produced a commanding performance to triumph in race two of the weekend.
Continuing his flawless form – which had seen him already claim pole position in qualifying and victory in race one – the Essex racer was unchallenged as he led every lap in relatively comfortable fashion.
Thompson led the field away as the lights went out and had a second or so in hand by the time he arrived back at the Club Chicane for the first time. That gap only grew over the subsequent laps, especially as an almighty battle for second place played out behind him.
Eric Boulton and Dale Gent headed the chasing pack however contact midway through the Club Chicane on lap two slowed both of them momentarily, allowing those behind them to close up and challenge for position.
One of the big winners from the melee was reigning champion Ryan Hadfield as he scythed his way up to third at Allard however moments later, Allen Cooper the found a way past him. By the time things had settled down, Thompson was already more than five seconds clear.
Cooper and Hadfield would be nip-and-tuck for the remainder of the contest, that was until former champion Gent enjoyed a late surge to snatch third from Hadfield.
Behind the top four, Mark Willis enjoyed a strong drive to complete the top five whilst Tom Hutchins enjoyed a season-best finish of sixth.
Rounding out the top ten was the recovering Boulton, Daniel Fisher, Michael Smith and Melvin Collins.
