Allen Cooper has vowed to give everything he’s got to clinch what would be a first Pickup Truck Racing Championship title at Brands Hatch on October 31-November 1.

After coming oh-so close to the crown last year, Cooper has been one of the series’ leading lights this year and as such, heads to the Kent circuit sitting three points behind leader Aaron Thompson in the standings.

While having only twice been a winner this season to-date, the cornerstone of Cooper’s challenge has been his relentless consistency – which has included countless podiums.

“It’s been a very good season – probably by best-ever in Pickups,” said Cooper. “We made a good start at Brands Hatch back in April and since then we’ve been there or thereabouts ever since.

“I feel like we learnt a lot last year and that has translated to this season. The car set-up has been mint and when we’ve had clean air we’ve been able to show our speed.”

He said: They’re great people and great competitors. Ultimately we’re all here to do the same thing and that is to win races and championships. Only one of us can do the latter and I’m sure it’ll be a great fight until the very end.”

Having narrowly missed out on title glory just 12 months ago, Cooper admits going one better this term would be a fitting story.

“It would be one hell of an achievement to win,” Cooper stated. “I’ve come from oval tracks and racing on shale so winning it would be an incredible buzz. It would also be great reward for my family who are on this journey with me.

“Looking ahead to Brands Hatch I wouldn’t mind it being a wet one. With my background I’m used to having the car sideways and generating grip so I think we could use that to our advantage.”
